A Message From the President
I can’t believe we are entering the month of May! New officers have been elected for next year and preorders for school supplies have begun. This month at school is a frenzy of activities, so buckle your seatbelts and hold on.
Early Voting for School Board Candidates has begun, and will continue until May 5, at the Administration Building. Voting Day is May 9. Please see the link below. There are five candidates running for the three available positions. With all the changes coming in our district, it’s important to elect the candidates you want to represent you.
Dripping with Talent is tomorrow, Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Popcorn and water will be available by donation. Please come and support our students and staff as they share their talents.
Next week is Staff Appreciation. Jill VandeWalle has put together a great schedule of events from the PTA. Your own classes may be doing something as well for our teachers to help spoil them, so watch for emails from room parents. Paperback beach reads and gift cards can be left in the designated boxes in the PTA workroom. Please see the complete schedule of her events below.
The following week will be the PE Field Days. These are by grade, from 8-10am, and students should wear their class shirts.
Mon, May 11 – PreK & Kinder
Tues, May 12 – 1st Grade
Wed, May 13 – 2nd Grade
Thurs, May 14 – 3rd Grade
Fri, May 15 – 4th Grade
Our final General Membership Meeting will be on Wednesday, May 20, at 8am, in Room 310. We will be adopting our proposed budget for next year. Immediately following, will be the first Fall Fair meeting. (Save the date: Nov 14, 2015)
Finally, school supply orders for the 2015-16 year are due by May 22. Online orders can be placed until July 15.
Thanks again to the many volunteers I see at school and hope to see you in the halls soon.

Staff Appreciation Week Begins
Here is the full schedule for our staff during the Annual Staff Appreciation Week. We are in great need of books for our Wednesday event and donations to round out the week. Check below to find out how we could use your help.
Monday – Our PTA will be providing breakfast to kick off their week.
Tuesday – Our PTA is providing an “End of Day Dessert Cart”.
Wednesday – “Book Shop” during lunch. We welcome donations that the teachers would enjoy for their summer pleasure reading. This is not for their classroom library but rather for their own relaxation. Please bring your books to the workroom between now and Wednesday May 6.
Thursday – “Staff Luncheon and Boutique”. Our PTA will provide the lunch, but we need boutique items. Any new gift or gift card donation for the boutique valued from $15-$25 would be greatly appreciated. Please deliver items to school no later than Tuesday, May 5, so we can get a final count and display. Our goal is 100 gifts.
Friday – “Flowers and Notes” for teachers. Have students bring fresh, homegrown or wild picked flowers for the teachers with a note of appreciation. Room Parents, please make sure you have a vase for your teacher ready that morning!

Congratulations to our Volunteers of Month: Jill VandeWalle and Aubrey Munguia.
Jill has spent the year coordinating all the events for our staff and showering them with our love and support. Aubrey has been volunteering all year with the outdoor classroom, ticket sales, and the staff lounge redesign that’s in progress. Thanks for all you hours and please enjoy the designated parking spot on the front row by the crosswalk for the month of May!
“Pawsing” To Thank Our Watch D.O.G.S.
Our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program has continued strong in April and a big thank you to all of the dads who have volunteered at DSE with the program this month: Steve Carrillo, dad of Bella and Lilly; Jeff Luttrull, dad of Kendall and Kylie; Garret McKenna, dad of Rose; Patrick Meadows, dad of Matt; David Robinson, dad of Zachariah; Ted Stillwell, dad of Sam and Tim.
