We are happy to represent and serve you and are excited to be starting another school year.  We are passionate about our administration, our teachers, our staff and our community and are thrilled to welcome all new members to our family — Welcome!
Last year we accomplished some amazing things. We started a new mentoring program, PIRS (Partners In Reading Success), that involves all members from the community to help our students who need a little extra help, attain reading success.
We hosted two amazing community events, our annual Fall Fair and Spring Garage sale. These events helped to bring in funds to support all of our wonderful programs and appreciation events, as well as several in-class science investigations, new soccer goals for the PE program and recess time, recess equipment, assemblies, and additions to the library. The funds supported educational enrichment opportunities in the areas of math, science, art, nutrition and nature. Last year also brought forth two new groups of concerned parents that are focused on health, nutrition and physical fitness.  The Outdoor Facility Improvement Committee is working hard to increase opportunities for all of the students to have more options for physical play during their recess time. The Health and Nutrition committee is just getting started and has met with district officials, local community organizations and retail businesses seeking assistance in providing learning opportunities for our students and families with regards to health —- everything from preparing healthy snacks and meals to gardening and growing your own food.

We have a great website and will be using it to keep you up to date throughout the year. Please check it for our latest calendar information. You can plan on receiving more updates on the latest happenings via email as we work to cut down on our use of paper — be sure to turn in your membership form to be automatically subscribed. You can always find us at:  www.dsepta.org.
We urge you to consider joining us, the Dripping Springs PTA, by becoming a member and/or volunteering your time where you are able. Together we can we make a difference in every student's elementary school experience.
Sincerely,

Your 2010-2011 Dripping Springs Elementary PTA Board:

Why Join your DSE PTA? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jenny Lee

What is PTA?

The Parent Teacher Association is an organization at DSE that joins together
parents with the administration and teachers to focus on our students’ success.
PTA is foremost committed to the education and welfare of children.

Why join our PTA?
PTA provides an opportunity for families to participate in their child’s school
life. PTA members volunteer in the classroom, in the school workroom, in the
library, and assist with special events like our Valentine’s luncheon, Fall Fair,
teacher appreciation, FUN events, and PE fun day.  Research has shown that
when parents are involved, students do better. Students perform better in
schools with high volunteerism and receive higher grades and test scores.

Being involved in the PTA also helps you keep up with what’s happening at your
child’s school. And as a member, you are part of the solution. Your voice counts.
You can make suggestions for change or improvements to your child’s school.

PTA is also a great way to meet other parents, learn about PTA supported
programs and events at your child’s school, gain new skills, put your hobbies
to work and strengthen the family-school-community partnership.

Do I have to volunteer?
PTA appreciates everyone’s membership, whether you volunteer or not.  Each
membership into DSE PTA, increases PTA’s ability to advocate for our children.

Who belongs to PTA?
There is no one typical type of PTA member.  Working parents, stay at home,
moms, dads, grandparents, new DSE parents and those returning are all welcome.
Your involvement in PTA through membership or volunteerism, improves our school.
And you will teach your children about giving back to the community and your
dedication to their education.

Who do I contact with Questions?  If you have questions or special needs, please
contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  You can turn in your Membership form
to the Front Office or give it to your child’s teacher.
