A Message From the President

Only three weeks of school left and so many activities and deadlines to remember!!  I’d like to start by congratulating the newly elected school board members; our own DSES parent Mary Jane Hetrick, Carrie Kroll and Shannon O’Connor.  Thank you for wanting to serve our students and community.

Next week will be the final General Membership PTA Meeting on Wednesday, May 20, at 8am, in Room 310.  We will be making final budget changes, along with adopting the budget for next year.  Please plan on attending this important meeting.  Immediately following, will be a Fall Fair planning meeting (save the date, Nov. 14, 2015)

Thursday, May 21, from 8-10am, will be the Leadership Day, highlighting The Leader in Me skills implemented this year for community members and parents.  Mrs. Murray is looking for six (6) volunteers to help her that morning, if you are available.

And Friday, May 22, will be the 3rd Grade Market Days.  Please remember to send $2-3 in coins, for your student to shop.  All funds raised by 3rd grade will go towards their cost for Camp Champions as a 5th grader.

May 22 is also the PAPER DEADLINE for ordering school supplies.  These prepacked supples are offered at cost to us, without sales tax, and will be available for pick up at Meet the Teacher night in August.  Online orders can be placed through July 15.

Attention 5th Grade Parents:  watch for a 6th grade school supply order form come home in a Thursday Folder soon, as well as the DSMS PTA Membership form.  As a member of DSMS PTA, you will receive a weekly email blast, beginning in August.  And since there will no longer be Thursday folders, I hear it’s a great way to keep up with events and deadlines, that you might otherwise miss.

The Cool Cat Cash Store will be open for the last time on Wednesday and Thursday, May 27-28.  Watch for volunteer sign ups or come by the store if you have time to spare.  All cash earned this school year must be spent and cannot transfer to next year’s shopping.

Please remember to submit any receipts needed for reimbursement by May 29 to allow our treasurer time to close out the books for this school year.

Thanks again to the many volunteer hours given by our PTA members this year.  None of our programs would be possible without you or your support.

See you in the halls – Ricci
